HMMSB — Norwegian for "Help People with Special Needs" — is a humanitarian organization bridging Norway and Ethiopia to serve some of the most vulnerable members of society: persons with disabilities living in poverty.
Based in Bole, Addis Ababa, we work hands-on with communities to deliver food aid, mobility devices, healthcare access, and educational support. Our December 2025 food distribution reached hundreds of vulnerable persons with disabilities — but our work continues year-round, driven by compassion and the belief that every person deserves dignity.
Every initiative we undertake is rooted in three foundational pillars that define who we are and how we serve.
A society where every person with special needs lives with dignity, has access to essential resources, and is empowered to participate fully in their community — regardless of ability.
To deliver direct humanitarian assistance — food, mobility aids, healthcare, and education — to vulnerable persons with disabilities in Ethiopia, while building bridges of solidarity between Norway and Africa.

Before HMMSB, I struggled to feed my family. My wheelchair made it impossible to work. The food aid gave us breathing room — but more than that, the volunteers treated me with respect. They saw me, not my disability.
I started volunteering to give back. What I didn't expect was how much I would receive. Every distribution day, I witness strength, gratitude, and humanity that changes me. HMMSB is more than an organization — it's a family.
